Material Reuse Forum 13

On Tuesday, July 7th, from 1:30–3:00 PM ET, experts will gather for Material Reuse Forum 13 to explore a question at the heart of textile circularity: what happens to textiles when they’re donated, and how are they reused or recycled? The session will follow the journey of donated textiles from collection and processing to reuse and recycling, offering a closer look at the systems that keep materials in circulation.

Material Reuse Forums are a series of free, virtual "Deep Dive" events hosted by the Northeast Recycling Council (NERC). They focus on building community resiliency and advancing circular economy practices.

Planet Aid Joins the Panel Discussion

Among the featured speakers is Planet Aid’s Uli Stosch, Chief Officer of Strategic Development, who will share her perspective on textile reuse, thrift, and the real-world systems that support material recovery.  She will also talk about Planet Aid’s new thrift store, The Loop by Planet Aid,  and how it reflects the organization’s mission to keep clothing in use longer and support local and global community impact.

Stosch will also reflect on how The Loop satisfies the growing desire for sustainable shopping experiences with quality,  stylish secondhand clothing at affordable prices.

The forum will also feature Dr. Marisa Bisram as moderator, along with Dr. Katarina Goodge and Giana Manganaro Cronin. Together, the speakers will discuss how donated textiles move through the reuse and recycling ecosystem and why thrift stores remain an important part of that system.

This conversation will be valuable for anyone interested in sustainable fashion, textile recovery, or the evolving role of secondhand retail in a circular economy. It offers valuable insight into how reuse systems work in practice and where there is still room to improve.
