Planet Aid Collects More Than 2,000 Pounds of Textiles at Boston Greenfest

Planet Aid collected more than 2,000 pounds of shoes and clothes at Boston Greenfest, the region's largest multicultural environmental music festival.

"We are particularly appreciative of the sponsoring role Planet Aid played in this year's event," said GreenFest Director Karen Weber. "We are thrilled that Planet Aid helped make GreenFest a truly special event, and that through their participation over 2,000 pounds of clothing and shoes were kept out of the waste stream."

Planet Aid's representatives helped educate visitors to their booth about the importance of recycling textiles. "Many who live nearby asked if we could place a box because they have no where to recycle clothes or shoes in the downtown area," said Community Relations Manager Adrienne Currin. "Our mission is to help the residents of Boston recycle their unwanted items and find nearby locations to host more boxes in the future."

A portion of the money raised from this event went to the Foundation for a Green Future, Inc., the nonprofit that organizes Boston GreenFest. Special thanks to Clarks and True Runner for providing those who donated their used footwear with coupons for new shoes!
