This Earth Day, Planet Aid is inviting individuals, families, businesses, schools, and communities to take action by participating in our 2026 Earth Day Clothing Drive, running from April 22-29. Last year, Planet Aid donors helped to collect nearly 1.7 million pounds of clothes and shues during the week-long clothing drive. Your donation is also tax-deductible, so don't forget to generate your receipt.

Donating your used clothes and shoes is a simple way to make a big impact. Instead of throwing textiles away, give them a second life by dropping them off at one of our convenient yellow bins or donation centers. Every donation helps reduce waste and supports a more sustainable future. No donation bins near you? Mail your donation with our Give Back Box program.

Your donation is also tax-deductible—be sure to generate your receipt when you give.

Why donate your clothes?

Usable clothes are reusable, making them a valuable resource for both people and the planet. When you donate, you’re helping to:

  • Divert textiles from landfills where they leech toxins into the environment
  • Support the circular secondhand clothing economy which creates economic opportunities
  • Reduce demand for new textile manufacturing to conserve valuable natural resources and reduce pollution
  • Fundraise for programs that strengthen communities in the U.S. and around the globe

The impact of textile waste

The fashion industry continues to place enormous strain on the environment—consuming vast resources while generating significant pollution and waste. In the U.S. alone, millions of pounds of textiles are discarded each year, with the majority ending up in landfills or incinerators.

Beyond environmental damage, fast fashion often relies on exploitative labor practices, with workers facing low wages and poor conditions.

A simple solution with meaningful impact

The good news is that small actions—like donating a bag of clothes—can make a real difference.

Planet Aid makes it easy to give your clothes a second life through reuse. Keeping textiles in use longer reduces waste, lowers the demand for new clothing production, and supports a growing secondhand economy.

As a nonprofit, Planet Aid uses proceeds from donated clothing to fund programs that strengthen communities around the world, including initiatives focused on:

  • Education

  • Health and wellness

  • Agricultural and environmental sustainability

  • Community development

Join the movement

This Earth Day, be part of the solution. Clean out your closet, gather a bag of clothes or shoes, and donate between April 22-29.
