In support of Hurricane Fiona Survivor Relief efforts, Planet Aid has placed donation bins for urgent supplies at International Plaza and Don Samuel Torres Park in Rochester, NY. In partnership with Puerto Rican Independence Diaspora, Ibero-American Action League, and the City of Rochester, Planet Aid bins will be available for drop-offs through October.

Over a million residents have experienced intermittent power outages in Puerto Rico. Essentials like batteries, solar lamps, and water filters are needed. Additionally, toiletries like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and towels are also in high demand.
The Puerto Rican Independence Diaspora and friends will host two Hispanic Heritage Month events to collect essentials. On Saturday, September 24, between 1 pm and 5 pm, volunteers will collect supplies at International Plaza at 828 N. Clinton Ave. The second event takes place on Wednesday, September 28, at Don Samuel Torres Park (off of N. Clinton Ave.) from 5 pm to 7 pm.
One of the event coordinators, Ellia Vara, is impassioned about the hurricane relief effort, stating, "There is a quote in Spanish, "˜Solo el pueblo salva al pueblo.' We use it to encourage people to help each other."
It translates to "Only the people save the people.
