McGovern-Dole Food for Education's Impact in Mozambique (video)

Planet Aid’s Food for Knowledge Project will continue to make an impact in Mozambique through 2020. This multi-faceted initiative funded by the USDA McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition program has been improving the lives of young students in the Maputo Province since 2012.

Food for Knowledge has provided daily school meals for 65,000 children, trained teachers, educated communities about proper nutrition, established school gardens, and constructed or refurbished school sanitation and kitchen facilities. The extension of the project will continue this work and expand to new communities, resulting in a total of 82 million meals served, more than 80,000 children reached, and 7,700 new teachers trained to work in underserved rural schools.

The project is implemented in cooperation with ADPP Mozambique, the World Initiative for Soy in Human HealthCambridge Education, and the Government of Mozambique.
