Planet Aid's local partner organization, DAPP Malawi, has been awarded the prestigious UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers. DAPP Malawi received the award for its in-service teacher training program launched in 2012 to assist working teachers in rural Malawi in improving the quality of their pedagogical skills.
"Planet Aid congratulates DAPP Malawi, for its achievement," said Ester Neltrup, Planet Aid President and CEO. "We have been supporting the DAPP teacher training colleges for many years, helping it to expand their reach to improve the quality of education. This UNESCO award is a recognition of DAPP's hard work and its dedication to making a difference for the people of Malawi."
The UNESCO prize was created in 2008 to support the improvement of teaching and learning quality in achieving the UN's "Education for All" goals. The winners are selected by an international jury comprised of five distinguished professionals chosen for their expertise and experience in the pedagogical field.
