Planet Aid dropped off five American flags that were donated in one of our yellow bins to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8641 in Merrimack, New Hampshire for proper disposal. To dispose of a United States flag, it must be placed on a fire after being customarily folded. It is required that an individual or individuals come to attention, salute the flag, recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and hold a brief period of silent reflection. The fire should be extinguished after the flag is completely consumed, and the ashes must be buried.
