Planet Aid has supported Humana People to People (HPP) Laos' community development initiatives in the Bolikhamxay Province.
Laos has a high tuberculosis (TB) burden and is one of the countries in South East Asia with the highest prevalence of TB, with an incidence of 175 per 100,000.1 In March 2018, HPP Laos signed an agreement with the Department of Health Bolikhamxay Province to focus on screening for TB in 57 focus villages. The project, which received support from Planet Aid, worked closely with the Lao Health Department through 2020 to spread awareness of TB and reached more than 12,000 people.
One of the biggest successes of the Child Aid project was the improvement of maternal and infant health in the Bolikhan District. The Child Aid program educated expectant mothers on how to care for themselves, boosting the clinic-visitation rates to 80 percent.
